The Tappeiner Promenade offers beautiful views of Merano and the entire Burggrafenamt region throughout the year. Stretching for around four kilometres, it is lined with native and Mediterranean plants, giving the walking trail the atmosphere of a botanical garden.
The Maiser Waalweg is ideal for a relaxing walk surrounded by nature, with lush green meadows, woodland and apple orchards along the way. A peaceful, scenic trail, perfect for taking in the landscape at a leisurely pace.
The Algund Waalweg is just a few minutes from Merano and follows an ancient irrigation channel through vineyards, orchards and woodland. Along the way, it offers magnificent panoramic views across the Merano valley basin.
Vigiljoch offers beautiful walking trails leading past a charming little church and through peaceful woodland, with magnificent views all the way to the idyllic Schwarze Lacke lake. It is the perfect place to enjoy nature, breathe in the fresh mountain air and spend a few relaxing hours surrounded by stunning scenery.
The hike from Taser to the Ifingerhütte mountain hut is a wonderful opportunity to experience the Alpine landscape up close. The trail is steep in places and winds through dense woodland, creating an authentic mountain atmosphere. Upon reaching the rustic mountain hut, hikers are rewarded with spectacular views of the imposing rock faces of the Ifinger, Merano’s local mountain.
The Muthöfe farmsteads are among South Tyrol’s oldest mountain farms, perched on some of the steepest slopes in the region, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The trail continues to Leiter Alm mountain pasture and the Hochganghaus mountain hut at the foot of the Texel Group. This is a long hike at high altitude, with some exposed sections, but the spectacular views make it well worth the effort.
The Ifinger is the destination of a mountain hike starting at the Merano 2000 mountain station and leading step by step to one of Merano’s best-known peaks. As the trail climbs higher, the terrain becomes increasingly rocky and adventurous, eventually leading to the summit. This is a hike with a true alpine character, with a short via ferrata section to negotiate towards the final stretch.
The Muthöfe farmsteads mark the start of the ascent to the Mutspitze, which rises high above the Merano valley basin. From Mutkopf, the trail follows the ridge, becoming increasingly rocky until it reaches the summit cross. This hike combines the charm of traditional mountain farmsteads with the rewarding experience of reaching one of the most distinctive peaks in the Texel Group.
